          Managing Cancer & Edema
                                                                                                
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, then you know that not all people with cancer experience pain and not all cancers produce pain equally.  Pain can have terrible side effects on one's quality of life and ability to function.  It can lead to depression, irritability, social withdrawal, anger, loss of sleep, appetite.  Pain may be acute or chronic.  We are hopeful that  Simple Pink Cancer Recovery Program can be the breakthrough that you may be looking for!  I personally, Cathy Sunderlin, Executive Director have committed to myself, a three-time cancer survivor, wife, mother, grandmother, massage therapist, cancer exercise specialist, to provide and share with you information to help you maintain the quality of life that suits you!       

The benefits of the Simple Pink Cancer Recovery Program and how cancer patients/survivors will benefit from participating in such a program are listed below.

Based on your individual pathology and physical needs, the benefits of exercise during and after treatment  can offer you:
     Improved treatment tolerance 
     Improvement with returning to or exceeding your prior level of fitness 
     Improve postural deviations that can lead to pain and joint deterioration 
     Increase strength, flexibility & range of motion 
     Increase energy and stamina 
     Prevent and/or manage lymphedema 
     Minimize the risk for osteoporosis, diabetes, and other cancers
     Reduce pain 
     Help facilitate lifestyle changes
   
Training sessions are one hour in length.  The number of sessions required will be determined based on the goals set at your initial appointment.

Exercise intensity will be determined based on your physician's release and healthcare assessment at your first appointment.  Your recovery training  program will be created around your individual needs varying from range of motion, core stability, manual stretching and strengthening techniques.   Various disciplines including yoga and tai chi may be introduced to determine proper goals with a mind set in place that you are a  cancer patient/survivor looking for the best outcome!

Training clothing will be discussed based on your personal needs at your initial appointment.

Physician's  Approval will be required and a detailed medical form will be necessary.
